As I process through the final assessment, I realize the importance of patience and visualization as both a student and an instructor! This final assessment has been a challenge because I have come across so many technological issues while working in the web world. I have learned to process through these difficulties, but patience is required as processing the challenges takes so much time! As an instructor, I would need to make sure that I am aware of the roadblocks that may occur for students so that I can assist when needed or allow for extensions/modifications as needed.
I also realized the importance of visualization. When I began the final project, I was stuck in one of the previous modules in the course. I had a difficult time visualizing where I needed to go in the final project, so it took me quite a while to get a good start. I think it is a good idea to have visualization techniques that I can share with my students. I would have to research this more, as I would like to reach a wide variety of students, and I only know what works for me. I think that by visualizing the end goal the process can be easier for all involved.
I learned great deal from working through the final project. I like that the project challenged me to continue thinking of higher level educational skills for my students. Many times students with disabilities are not expected to achieve these higher levels of thinking, but now that testing expectations have changed, they are. I like that we are now challenging our students and setting higher expectations, but I worry some of the expectations may be too high. It will be important that as I proceed that I take into account the ability of the students and the expectations of the course.
