End of course reflection: On this webpage, I trimmed down the amount of information I created in my response and in my introductory email to my students. That seemed a bit difficult to me as I thought what I wrote was simple and straight forward. I realize I tend to get a bit wordy in order to make students feel comfortable, but in understanding the students will mirror my responses, it is important to trim down my response. I would spend a lot of unnecessary time reading lengthy posts if my example were lengthy as well.
Prompt:
Introduce yourself here! Tell us a bit about who you are as well as what profession you chose and why. Also, tell us your most embarrassing moment that occurred while on the job!
Once you are done responding to the introduction prompt, please respond to two other posts in a meaningful way. Meaningful means that you try to make a connection with your fellow students by asking questions and sharing your own experiences to create a conversation. Please make sure to respond to those who have posted to your initial response.
My Response:
Hello! My name is Jen Staidl and I will be the facilitator for this course. I have been teaching in a face-to-face special education classroom setting for 16 years! This is my first experience with online class facilitation, so we will be learning some of these ropes together! I decided to go into teaching because I volunteered in an early childhood classroom as a high school student. I absolutely loved spending time and assisting with the special needs students. I did quickly learn that I was not up for wiping noses and behinds, so I knew that I would head in the direction of teaching at the high school level! I have had many embarrassing moments in my 16 years of teaching. I have worn two different shoes, prepped the wrong lessons, fell for student April Fool's jokes, and fallen victim to the daylight savings time change! With all of the embarrassing moments I have learned to be resilient and flexible! I have also learned to laugh at myself. Great qualities to have as a teacher!
Intro EMail:
Subject Line: Course Name, Number, and Start Date
